Win 2000 Client Setup.
W2K is a bit different to setup than 98 & ME, but still fairly easy to set up.

To get to this window, you need to go into
your Control Panel and double click the System icon.
From here you can either click Network ID and let the Wizard do the work, or click Properties and insert your settings manually.

To let the Wizard do the work, just click
next and follow the steps, if your server is setup correctly it will setup
your W2K client all on its own.

Type in the Computer name and the workgroup.
Note: Workgroup can be anything you like, but again I recommend keeping the same Workgroup name on all PC's to avoid confusion.

Right click the My Network Places icon and
select properties.
Double click the Local Area Connection icon.

Your window should look similar to this, if
not , install the protocols shown and then select TCP/IP and click
properties.

Tick Obtain IP address and DNS server as
shown . Then click the advanced button.

If it does not already look like this then
add DHCP, then click the DNS tab.
Also add the gateway which points to your server IP.

Add your DNS suffix (Domain Name) which you can find here , add everything after mail, as shown in picture. You can also add *nsw.optushome.com.au . * add your state , i.e. nsw, vic or qld.

The client WINS should be set up as shown.
You should now be able to access mail and news from your mail client by setting it up as shown here.
