Win XP Server Setup.
Setting up an XP server with ICS is much the same as Win98/ME, it just looks a bit different.

First set up the ID on the PC, this is done
via Control Panel/System/Computer Name, this name can be anything you like
as long as its unique on your LAN, you can also change it by clicking on the
Change button "change".

Here you can change the name to suit the PC
or give it your own name, just be sure its a unique name on your LAN.

Go to the Control Panel and double click the
Network Connections icon, you should then be looking at a similar picture to
this. As you can see there are two LAN connections, from now on I will refer to them as Home and Shared, the shared one being the one connected to the modem/internet. Select the connection that says Optus/Cable Modem/Internet, right click it and select properties.

In the shared properties, untick File and
Printer Sharing so that your files are not shared with the outside world. Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and select Properties, proceed to next step.

Set it to Obtain an IP address and DNS
server automatically, then click the advanced button. Hit Ok then proceed to
next step.

Tick Internet Connection Firewall if you do
not have any other firewall software, if you have ZoneAlarm or similar,
leave this unticked. Tick both boxes under Internet Connection Sharing, hit OK and continue onto the Home LAN card settings.

Tick File and Printer Sharing on this card
to enable sharing of files and printers over your LAN. Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and select Properties, proceed to next step.

Set it up as shown, ICS will already set
your IP to 192.168.0.1, check the Subnet mask and change if needed. The DNS server addresses you would normally leave blank, but if you have a preference you can add that here. Hit Ok and you should be right to go onto the client setup
